Interior design and documentation for affordable and non-market housing across British Columbia — rental apartments, townhouses and seniors housing delivered with housing societies, non-profits, municipalities and publicly funded development partners. A substantial share of SAGE's multifamily work is affordable housing, carried from finish selection and interior detailing through technical documentation, consultant coordination and construction administration.

Built for Long-Term Affordability

SAGE has provided interior design consulting on affordable housing developments for the Society of H.O.P.E., Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society, Aboriginal Land Trust Society, NOW Canada Society, New Chelsea Society, Kiwanis North Shore Housing Society, KinVillage Association, Okanagan Métis & Aboriginal Housing Society and Vernon Native Housing Society, among others — projects ranging from a 21-unit townhouse community to a 153-unit seniors rental building.

Affordable housing has to stay affordable to operate. Finishes are selected for durability and ease of maintenance so homes remain welcoming for residents and manageable for operators, and the work is coordinated with the standards the funding brings with it. Depending on project requirements, the work considers applicable BC Building Code and accessibility requirements, BC Housing Design Guidelines & Construction Standards, adaptable housing requirements and other owner-, operator- or funder-specific standards.

SAGE stays involved through construction — shop drawing review, RFI responses, site instructions and deficiency coordination — through to occupancy.
