SAGE Interior Design

Supportive Housing

Interior design and documentation for supportive housing — residential buildings where homes are paired with on-site services and staff support. SAGE works with non-profit societies, their architects and general contractors to deliver durable, welcoming interiors that serve residents, program staff and the organization's mission over the long term.

Residential Environments That Support Residents and Staff

Supportive housing combines a home with the services that help residents keep it. The interiors have to work for both — private suites that feel residential, and office, program, counselling and shared spaces that let staff do their work — within the durability and maintenance realities of a building in continuous use.

SAGE's supportive housing work includes NOW Canada Society's Cawston Avenue development in Kelowna: 40 units of affordable housing and supportive accommodation for women and children. Finishes and detailing are selected to be durable, easy to maintain and welcoming, and the work runs from finish selection and interior detailing through technical documentation, consultant coordination and construction administration.

Depending on project requirements, the work considers applicable BC Building Code and accessibility requirements, BC Housing Design Guidelines & Construction Standards, adaptable housing requirements and other owner-, operator- or funder-specific standards.
